| We are Cecil (Cap) and Judith (Judi) Thomas. While our childhood was spent in Western Massachusetts, we have lived for the last thirty years in Canton, Michigan which is in Southeastern Michigan, near Ann Arbor. We've also lived in Lansdale, Pennsylvania (near Philadelphia), Columbus, Georgia, and El Paso, Texas. We met while working at a summer resort in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Cecil took an early retirement at the end of 2003. In 2004, we decided to change our primary residence from Michigan (snow, cold, gray skies) to Florida (sunny, warm) and began to look for both a nice town / city and for a community / builder that would suit our retirement needs. We still maintain a summer cottage in the northern part of lower Michigan. We ended up selecting a very nice, New England like town in Central Florida named Mount Dora. After looking at several different developments, we decided to buy "pre-construction" in a new subdivision being designed and built by Pringle Development. The subdivision name, Lakes of Mount Dora, provides a clue as to why we chose it. It offers homes on water. While the water is really just a meandering, shallow, man-made lake, the opportunities to see wildlife and use small boats (e.g. kayaks, electric powered pontoon boats) was very appealing. We also liked the idea of moving into a new community where the residents would all be "new" so we could grow our community together. |
